Colombia's Artisan Crafts

Traditional Arts & Crafts are important to preserve culture and history, they help to build identity. This project is a visual journey around Colombia, its colors, landscapes, and the cultural value Artisan Crafts and their craftsmanship contribute to the country's identity. A journey guided by detailed Illustrations of the most relevant Colombia's Artisan Crafts .
The corporation Artesanias de Colombia, the Erigaie Foundation and Amazinkstudio worked together to bring this project to life. My role ,as part of the creative team, was to illustrate the different processes that happen during the crafts making.
The illustrations aim to honor the hands behind the objects, and the knowledge they carry generation after generation. Thanks to the meticulous research by Artesanias de Colombia and the Erigaie Foundation, we could develop a style that mixes the reality of the artisans (so they can feel identified), with playful scenarios and characters.
The craftsmanship making-process is very interesting. Starting with obtaining the raw material, which requires a knowledge of the territory and its biodiversity, the connection the artisans have with the material also connects them to their territory.
Teaming up with Marthildaa we managed to generate a visual universe flexible enough to be applied to several pieces like calendars, flyers, tool-holders, labels, and flyers; without losing consistency.
